Did you catch his slide show when he was on the UW campus... I'm hoping he comes to town again. His was second only to Mark Twight, and then only 'causeTwight made us all laugh our asses off (kind of like reading this board) I was very impressed by Steve House's take on life and climbing.

We have the Sony DSC-S85. Yeah, like 800+ bucks (got it for work). Although it's a 4.1 megapixel, a 35mm slide is still a better. It is good (see the boulder picts on my web site) I'm not complaining, but... My recommendation, if you are looking for point and shoot, go 35mm slide point and shoot. You may get that one in a million shot, and unless you go spend a few thousand bucks (and I'm still not convinced the technology is there yet) you will have a sub-standard photo for the mags if you go digital. You might think I'm full of it, but when I used to Scuba Dive a lot, I had a Motor Marine II, a "cheap" underwater camera (1/3 the price of a Nikonos). I bought all it's accessories, and low and behold, I actually got several pictures that were indeed published, even though they were not taken with the "top of the line" gear. BUT, I did take use slide film, just in case. Same shot with a digital, even now, 5 years later with technological advances... I don't think so. My ex-boyfriend had a reasonable point and shoot, and he had some incredible climbing pictures. I would give my eye-teeth for some of the shots he got, just because his camera was small enough, and cheap enough that he wasn't worried about taking it along and using it. I don't think I'd take our Sony on some nasty, wet, cold trip... I'd have to get it an underwater housing before I felt comfortable risking it, and that would add to the weight and I'd probable never take it anyway. (for some reason, I just don't think frozen waterfall damage would be covered by warranty) Just my .02 from taking pictures in some of the most camera unfriendly environments around for the past 12 years. Happy image capturing, Icegirl

All you guys who've tried to get a woman to climb, or gotten her to climb only to have her leave (the bitch)... You must have some cool gear laying around that doesn't fit you.... Icegirl is always in the market for size pygmie gear... for the right price, I'd be happy to take it off you hands Anyone got a size 36-37 Super Mountain 9's or equivalent laying around??? or some size XS or S gortex gathering dust... Hey, I had to ask...

This reminds me a bit of the story; "Voice of Dissent - Dr. Doom disses traditional values" From Kiss or Kill by Mark TwightConfessions of a serial climber Highly recommended reading.

For those you who think guys are the only ones who have it tough in this department... My best friend just got engaged... We would go on long, ass kicking bike rides almost every weekend, I had her almost convinced to try climbing with me this winter... Then her prince charming goes and proposes to her... I got an email from her tonight (have not heard from her in a month and a half) Her wedding is a half a year away and she's already got her dress. (she'd better not party too much, or that dress might not fit) Good Grief!. This isn't envy talking either... She's gonna move from Seattle to Cincinatti for this guy... Ack! So much for teaching her to race track bikes and climb.. Oh well, I wish her all the best and happiness... But, Heinous, I hear your pain, man... Sucks!

Geez, this is turning into the anti-spray topic Not only am I gonna get climbing partners, I'm getting tips on fixing my truck, too! I suspect that's just so I'll be so grateful I'll offer to drive - and get better at leading just for caveman (both of which could happen, you never know) Why didn't I post long ago... Off the subject, I did get up to the "foamy" ice wall, and the dry tooling practice wall at Cascade Crags, and have to admit, it was better than I expected... Now they just need an "ice wall only fee" for those of us who don't want to touch anything else in the gym. Thanks again, for all the great responses, I hope we can hook up and get some climbing in when the ice-gods smile upon us again...

Trask, that is so kind of you Are you sure someone hasn't stolen your avatar? No, really, sarcasm aside, thank you for the tips...
