  1. Armstrong can take his ball and go home if he doesn't like the rules.
  2. the fuck does psyops have to do with renewable energy? no oil for blood?
  3. get a room you two 8D
  4. The amount mined every year has very little to do with the availability because >75% of the iron consumed every year is recycled from scrap.
  5. Couple of final data points, many automated snow pillows are showing record or near-record depths of snow, but the East Creek one http://bcrfc.env.gov.bc.ca/data/asp/realtime/asp_pages/asp_2d08p.html is showing a recent decline to near-long term average levels. Of course, it's at 2000m and the climbing in the Bugs is more generally around 3,000 so it will be winterier up high than shown on the gauge.
  6. Consensus this year is that the snowpack right now is about a month behind where it normally is, so conditions are more like mid-April than a regular mid-May. Here's part of the most recent CAC bulletin (last Friday), last one of the season will drop on May 19th:
  7. http://www.acmg.ca/mcr/archives.asp See Rogers Pass report from May 14. Similar conditions should prevail in the Bugs right now.

  9. It's a comprehensive guide coauthored by Andrew Boyd and Kevin is what I heard. Been in production for at least a year but I don't know when it should be complete.

  11. I see what you did there
  12. The one in print. Two new editions, one McLane/Boyd and one Bourdon, supposed to come out this year so wait for those.
  13. PNW is >80% renewable due to hydro already. Need to scale that up to add the vehicle fleet though.
  14. OMG OMG while $480,000 will buy you exactly half of a vancouver crack shack don't you think that with purchasing power parity the dollar goes maybe little bit further in Abbottabad?
  15. I'd imagine boiling water plus wheedwacker cord home cable replacement = fail
  16. ummm the last two times i was at skaha, so was every other climber in the fucking universe. if looking for lack of crowds, try elsewhere

it'll be a change for you since mostly your face is in the pillow when pink's is making the Oh.
  19. Germany is making changes, aiming directly at 80% renewable by 2050: http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/05/12/idUS338742502920110512
  20. But also: Resource use must be decoupled from Economic growth.
  21. Speaking of drugs, is Messner still talking about how he found the yeti?
  22. The Linda goes up the N glacier then cuts back to the upper part of Zurbriggens Ridge. It is not a walk. You have to climb this ice cliff to summit Although most guides turn their clients around below this, and short of the summit.
  23. It depends on which route you climb, but they are all pretty much two tools and front points. The Grand Traverse's southern end was out of condition when I tried it due to low snowpacks and general glacial retreat; we couldn't even get to the hut. Went around and climbed the Linda, which is the easiest route on the peak; lots of glacier walking in the line of fire from seracs, then a section (about 4 pitches) of 4th class mixed through rock bands, then a 10m vertical ice wall to gain the summit. Compared to Cascade volcano walk ups it's a big step up in difficulty.
  24. Washington has many fewer sheep, and it doesn't have Castle Hill either.
