I agree with bug and Hamaker. Both have taken good parts of what others have missed here to produce good information that I agree with. I still also stand by my remarks including possibilities... Avalanches happen in the trees too... But more often self induced and more often party induced. I do disagree with Philfort in that the conditions were "tricky" (a word I use to describe Phil's remarks) to determine. I felt they were considerable.. Yes I went skiing but not very far. I understand he was possibly on a SW slope and I was on a slope of different aspect the next day... Still. I am very cautious due to a slide (very small) that happened before and know it does not take much snow to tackle you into a situation where you could be helpless. No armchairing or expertness meant...

Cool. Looks like it will be in the next service pack

Are they only enabled in certain areas? Probably the best for gear critic shit and just plain ole yes or no answers.

View old private messages and new when you log in. Since that is the case would rather get taken to the main page or page of desire after login instead of home\personal page. - Minor but suggestion. I can see why others will disagree.

Seriously though- You might have a chance if buried\caught in an Avy IF you have a transceiver on and partners do know how to use theirs and are also not caught, are not killed by debris\other trauma, can be rescued in time (relative to the situation) In a nutshell this lady may (or may not) have had a chance of rescue if some factors above had fallen in line. It's not too outlandish to believe that either I consider a 300$ beacon a cheap price if it might save my life. Although some may not travel in danger areas as much as others might argue different facts and opinions.

I am also equipped with avy dog.

Take the poll it is not designed for your "delusional mind".

And the real question behind Doctorsniff's post? Who REALLY cares if he was a prisoner before he was picked up? Not meMy name is Doctorb or allison and I am prying for anything to use against Bush.I hope they kicked em in the gonads a few times

My advice and I am no expert: Dig a pit and analyze the snow pack. Some people use rutschtblock some people other tests. It doesnt take long.... Travel out and analyze the snow often.. Learn to use and wear beacons. Carry a shovel. KEY- Recent slide activity is a clear sign of the probability of more slides. I still stand by my thoughts on people saying "hey it just slid let's go for it" - That's not true all the time and only applies in some situations.
-
On Phil's Steven Pass and notes- There has been about 2 feet?? Since last weekend. On top of that crust that still seemed to be there on sunday. You dont need the same model beacon to work with another one. 457 kz should be the standard frequency for all.
-
So much for the argument I hear people make- Well it already slid. Let's go for it.

I'm not arguing who's wrong... only that I recall reading what Stephen Ramsey is noting here being true and that does not match what the other person wrote..... Either forecast would probably keep me out of that valley... That's just me.
-
I had no doubt this was probably one of the worst days to be in the hills. Also noting it fell on a weekend when mobs of people might be out in areas like this. Too bad. Those forecasts are overall and very vague which cannot cover every aspect of the ranges within WA comprehensively. If you live and possibly die by the forecast bummer. I view them as general "What's up".

There are more ways than one to identify someone. Dental Records, DNA for starters...

Some people still think Hitler and Elvis are alive

Maryloser- While your busy looking for a sinister plan I'll still be getting laughs. It's funny to see people like you so up tight when anything might go "right" when Bushy is in office. The like of you folks just foaming at the mouth is fucking hilarious. All you thrive on is hatred and contempt instead of any sort of resemblence of facts.
-
It doesnt surprise me the slide happened. Too many people walk down that valley and dont know what is above them.

Yes my penile entry was small to some but big enough for your woman

Fuckin a that is hilarious

I disagree with the required reading. I think that it is required to learn the history and educate ourselves. I dont think it is required by every person though.. Only to those that understand.....

A good read to try and understand where the "movement" was coming from. Educationally a nice piece of work for the right person and not EVER worth banning. In fact your suggestion to ban that book agrees in some part with the reading in it.
