Peter Puget is for forced government evacuations? There were free market options available to these persons, why didn't they take advantage? Just as smart as always CJ@$#^%! The most obvious of a slew of rejoinders would be...bus those wishing to be evacuated out of the city via thos ebuses!

Oh come on Jim stop googling and answer my question. Given how widespread the problems were don't you feel that all those parked buses (100s) could have been put to better use by the local leadership?

I read something once describing the impact of contractions in the US on lessd eveloped countries. The sad fact is that even small contraction in the US economy do have significant impacts on lives elsewhwere. If Katrina was to trigger a large contraction people will die in other countries merely because of reduced US economic activity. Sorry to bring realism into the thread.....
