  3. The Bush economic recovery turns five next month!
  4. Just a few comments from someone living in Seattle. Over the years ( 25+) I have made many trips to Beacon. I never considered Beacon some intense “trad” place; it simply seemed like a fun place to go climbing. I rarely ran into other climbers out there and haven’t been there for several years but given the infrequency of meeting other climbers there it sounds like Beacon was getting to be more popular before the recent internet postings. As a visitor from the north with a longtime interest in Beacon I am interested in seeing which routes have been cleaned and/or had their equipment upgraded. Perhaps a solution would be to have the Beacon reports made sticky and edit the thread with new info pasted to the top and the thread title revised to show the date of revision. The information would be available to those seeking it. That said I am amazed that no one has even brought up the possibility that the etchings were in fact a direct response to recent internet postings.

    Media Bias!!!

Good attempt. I would suggest that you try biting off a bit less and aim for more originality. Baby steps!

  14. bull·shit ( bʊl ' shit ' ) Vulgar Slang. n. Foolish, deceitful, or boastful language. Something worthless, deceptive, or insincere. you wrote... in reference to this.... Again you miss my point. Since you never mentioned a number in your original post I considered your whole reply concerning a specific number to be worthless and insincere (ie BS see definition above). Why bring up a number when you stated a range. It looks to be simply an after the fact rationalization attempting to make it appear as if you were giving the reader a warning that your range was clearly a wild guess. This response is "Bush like" to me. It does not equate with a lie. The problem isn't with lies but rather well crafted responses that stop just short of a lie.
  15. Egads! I would ask the interested to go back and review my posts count how many instances that support this claim: Where did I say that you havent answered my correction?
  16. I believe some studs were right under your feet while you were climbing. I could be thinking of a different route tho.
  17. Ok Forgive my poor writing but help me to understand ..... I guess the subtlety of your point evaded me when I read where you wrote: "Are you tellign a lie? .. If so it is sad that we will see no better..... " I agree you did not get it! So, you and Mr. K continue to ignore my argument, and pretty much anybody else's here, but to seize on minutae and fire back with B.S. What BS did I fire back with? Here are the first and last sentences to the post I was replying to: I simply do not see you behaving much differently. I wrote in a way too subtle for you to grasp. I explained myself. (see quote above) It seems as though I have been responding directly to the point of your post and yet you continue to say that I am instead "ignoring your argument." You then throw in the following comments unrelated to anything I have been saying... ... Can either of you REALLY say that Bush and Cheney hadn't both been told that (a) Iraq did not launch 911 (b) the evidence of the Uranium purchase was false © the aluminum tubes could not have been used for a centrifuge (d) we had something like 400,000 soldiers surrounding Saddam, and no real proof that he had anything to threaten us with(Please check my number for me so you can show how wrong I am) Are you going to argue that, when they keep saying we have to abolish the death tax to people don't have to sell the family farm, they don't know that their supporters could not come up with a single example of where that tax forced someone to sell the family farm? They haven't had this little "factoid" corrected ever? Are you going to argue that, when virtually every credible scientist in the world agreed about global warming, it was not a "lie" to suggest there is serious doubt? etc. Oh please Matt I call BS on you misdirections. As far as firing back with "BS" you have got to be joking. Had you simply responded in a direct manner I would not feel the need to correct your obvious BS. You have responded in a manner identical to how you claim Bush acts. The point of your post that inspired my rejoinder was in fact your “Bush lies” claim. I have responded in a direct manner showing that you have acted and continue to act in the same manner. I am responding to your initial point. You keep shifting goalposts in a vain attempt at imitating a substantive defense. [/color]
  18. For the uninitiated these guys are exaggerating. The bolts are drilled. The runouts generally aren’t extreme by any measure. Lots of good routes. As far as Washboards? I think that the bolts are no longer in the original locations and their number has been changed. Honestly tho’ its been awhile and I could be thinking of another route. For a long time the first 5.11 was claimed to have been climbed at the Pinnacles.

  20. You have go to be kidding. You gave a very specific range. I knew your "number" was Bullshit not because of its lack of specificity but because of it. By the way since you never mentioned a specific value but did suggest a range of values that the true % would fall in, your claim that you "clearly stated that you didn't know the number" is patent BS. Tighten up! I would further add that it was not my contention that you were not telling the truth. I assumed that you were simply thinking wrongly, misinformed or writing in an unclear manner. My hope was that when faced with this truth you might reconsider your contention that Bush was a liar.
  21. Hmm...... You quite clearly stated that the number was, and I quote, "approaching 50%." It turns out that it was closer to 25%. Funny how something fairly specific like "approaching 50%" is meant to "clearly indicate" that the writer has no clue as to the exact number. I will admit it is hard to argue against logic like that.
  22. Matt - Are you tellign a lie? link If so it is sad that we will see no better.....
  23. "I'm young at heart!"
  24. The Croc is small...I think I will try to buy advance tickets.
