Sorry Erik, I Actually need poles for the Mountain 25. $180 at the North Face.
 -
Anyone know the difference between the "Mountain Tent" and the "Mountain 25". I am looking to put a Mountain Tent fly on a Mountain 25 tent. From what I can find the dimensions height and area are identical, but some lady at The North Face said the Mountain 25 was bigger??????? Anyone??

I would be using it for general backpacking/hiking and also for a few climbs per year (ie Shuksan, Baker, Glacier, Crown hill, Queen Anne). So I would really like it to be light, and fast boil times would be nice. I am not much of a mountain gourmet (no cakes or lamb cutlets) I have a multifuel now but am always afraid it will spill, and I really hate being on fire. Anyone who has spontaneously combusted can tell you how much it sucks! I like the snow peak because of its wind screen, size, BTU's. But am a bit put off by the fact you can only use snow peak fuel (is that true?).

Looking at getting a new stove.... Anyone have any info on the: Brunton Optimus Crux Snowpeak Giga Power Primus Alpine Power cook HPS Thanks

Thanks for all the help. My bro has a set of older nylon skins, given what ya'll said I will give them a shot for a season and then decide if I like em' . Skoal
 -
Lookin for some climbing skins. Anyone have a preference for good old mohiar, or for nylon? What woudl be the advantage/disadvantage to these? thanks
 -
Whatever, poseur! hey thats not cool. The only thing worse than a poser is a French Poseur. That cuts.
 -
right......... Nice work giving us all some closure on this world changing thread. That was a very PC way to end it without offending anyone. Hey some people are jewish, some are mormon and that is fine but we can all agree that the roman catholics suck right. (yeah I know that was sarcastic, sorry). And stop saying poser....no one says that anymore. it's kinda like "cowabunga dude", its just not acceptable anymore. Didnt this start with some guy that wanted help buying a car? He got jipped! Or at least a good laugh. Well it has been fun. Peace out hommies, see you on the slopes PS the above is some sweet biling bling

gotcha thanks... yeah that snorkle cracks me up! but if we ever have a tidal wave that yuppie will be laughing at us. In the mean time we can laugh at him. I would rather throw $600 in the street than get a snorkle, Shit... you could actually GO SNORKLING in Hawaii for that much.

defenders werent built in the 70's were they? Didnt they start in the 90's? (not being a dick just curious). And your right my 69 cruiser will go a few places my 91 wont but it is still damn impressive and recently went places my friends 1999 wrangler could not. Gas is expensive but I ride my bike 5 days a week to work 16 miles each day. Ass rash cream costs me more!! Oh and prior posts went off about safety......a 2002 audi got a 5 star rating for front driver and passenger, and side impact, and a 4 star for rear. A 2002 envoy got 5 star ratings for front impact and side also. A 2002 lexus got 4 and 5 star ratings all around. So......so what. I will stick to my guns, do what makes you happy. If you dont like someone elses opinion it is fine to let them know just dont be a f#*!%$ about it. Even the dull and ignorant have a story to tell. I am proud to say that I am a bit of both sometimes!

right on Gowans. You from the Isles? Why does the US get all the sissy versions of vehicles and beer? Oh and if you really want a 110 find a way to sneak one into the states and then register it as a series II-A. The government has no Idea what a landrover series II-A is. My bro has one and I think they called it a Jeep on the title becaus could not find it in their computer. And dont get me wrong on my posts about land cruisers vs discos. I almost bought one but once you are a cruiser or a disco fan you stay one. They both are truly incredible machines. Just take a gander at the ones they retrofitted to cross the antarctic. Pretty sweet. cheers

Hey guy I didnt mean anything by it. Just trying to lighten things up. people are a bit tense here, and a bit too defensive. Do you shower every day, do you always rope up on glaciers, do you eat a balanced breakfast......whatever I dont really care what you do, Its your life, not mine. Do what makes you happy and dont get in other peoples faces for what makes them happy.
 -
Pukon.....I get it. I didnt at first but now I do. THATS A RIOT!!!!!!! So clever!
 -
No a 1971 landrover series II-A is a real machine. A defender 90 is for people that have an extra $60,000 to spend on what is essentially a red paint job. Besides Rovers in general are too un-reliable. I prefer the Toyota Landcruiser I have a 1969 and a 1991. The new ones suck. I wish my 1991 had power nothing and a 5 speed, but the yuppies cant drive 5-speeds. Oh and by the way I have pics of my 1991 crossing rivers and climbing 50+ degree hills. I assure you that I am not a poser. As a matter of fact I have installed poser guards on the front of both my cruisers. And I had to sell a kidney to buy my climbing gear, I am not a trust fund baby looking for a hobby. But I do agree with you for the most part. 98% of the "luxury SUV" market does not actually use them, and they are not built for it anymore. Leather heated seats dont give you any more ground clearence. Take er easy

All of this negativity makes baby Jesus cry The solution to all of our problems is simple. Lets see......we want a vehicle that seats a lot of people, gets ok gas mileage, is not too huge but still has good enough ground clearance and four wheel drive to head for the hills and that will handle the highway with grace and poise. And it must look like a car on steroids or a wussy SUV...... My friends what we need is the AMC EAGLE to be back in production My first car was an AMC Concord, it was gold and it ruled. All the ladies wanted me and all the guys wanted to be me. OK...I was a dork but I have a big ass Land Cruiser now and I am not afraid to use it. Peace love climb Kyle

I just spent 2 months doing research on that very topic. I narrowed the field to the undisputed best built SUV's EVER. The Land Rover Discovery and the Toyota Land Cruiser. I found that the LC was more reliable and had a better re-sale value than the Disco. I have driven both on many occasions and I also found the LC to be a bit more stable in the tight turns. Although both are exceptional at off-roading. Both have full time 4wd and differential locks with 2 ranges. In the Disco I drove it on 35 degree angles sideways and it also has excellent clearance. The LC has around 8.5-9 inches of clearance and can cross water up to its headlights with no problem, and can drive over railroad tie sized bumps with out spilling you beer....I MEAN LATTE. My budget allowed me to get a 1991 FJ80 LC, It is an excellent truck. It does get poor gas mileage but that is expected. The only other pitfall of the 1991 to 1992 LC is the 155 BHP 3FE L-6. In 1993 they upgraded to a 215 BHP 1FZE L-6. Which is actually more HP than the Disco's V-8. Gas mileage is similar but you will obviously pay more. Other upgrades in the 1993-1994 models include ABS and Full Disc breaks (which the disco comes with standard). The Disco seats 5 and 7 with the center facing rear seat package. The LC seats 5 and 8 with the forward facing rear seat package. The discovery is a SUV built for the city driver, and it can go off road very well. The Land Cruiser pre 1995 was built for off road, and it could be driven in the city. I have lots of other info on this and on the 4 runner and how it was changed over the years. I also have safety stats. For instance if I had a family I would not get a pre 1994 4runner (death traps). And the LC has one of the best roll over ratings of all SUV's world wide. So if you want more info contact me I would be happy to share. good luck Kyle ps check out epinions.com, edmunds.com, consumerreports.com, cars.com, and msncars.com they allow you to research customer reviews and car stats.

Oh.....and your not going to die! Usually most conditios of the knee can be resolved by doing some therapy. You just have to stick with the program, which is the hardest part. K Y L E
 -
The grinding could be a couple of things. First of all if it is a creeking sound/sensation more than a grinding it is a good posibility that you have some tendonitis (usually patellar tendonitis). Pain with this condition usually seems to be coming from the big tendon under the knee cap. If it is a actual "grinding" sensation with pain "under" your patella (knee cap) it is possible that it may be a condition called chondromalacia. This is a condition in which the underside of the patella, which is covered by a cartillage pad, is roughed up and when it rubs in between your femoral condyles (end of your femur near the knee) it causes a grinding and pain that feels like it is under the patella or "inside the knee. Usually it gets roughened by the the patella not tracking properly. This can be due to a weak quad muscle called the "VMO". THe condition is often referred to as patellofemoral pain syndrome. This can usually be taken care of by strengthening the "VMO". Another possibility is a condition involving the meniscus of the knee. This is more cartillage that helps cushion the knee. A problem with this usually involves pain along the inside of the knee. Sometimes a "locking" of the knee is associated with it after you perform a deep knee bend. No matter what it is, if you are an avid climber and wish to get in some good climbs this spring/summer it would be a good idea to get it checked out by either a Physical Therapist, an Orthopaedic Surgeon, or an Athletic Trainer. Of course with out even looking at the knee or with out more info these are just educated guesses. But they may lead you in the right direction. Good luck and good climbing K Y L E

So far I am really happy with my Ecrin Roc. Adjustability is a sinch, and it is pretty tough. Kyle

I have been top roping for about 4 years off and on (due to 2 surgeries when I broke both my wrists) and just did my first lead climb last weekend at Post Falls Idaho. It was only a 5.7 or 5.8 but it was still freaky. Anyway I loved it and want to add on to my measley rack so I can do it more often. What kinds of things should I look into getting (even for a standard rack)? Right no I have Several lockers and ovals, a few big belaying lockers, a belay, a figure 8, and a few draws. I was thinking about some more draws, and mabey a GriGri. But I am not sure on what lengths of draws or if a GriGri is worth it. I am also going to start getting into mountaineering this summer on St. Helens and Adams. Any info on what has worked and not worked for you is greatly appreciated. Thanks
