  1. Bullshit I can go 400 kms on a 30 liter tank in a 90 Subaru Legacy The 1990 legacy 4wd gets a stated milage of 25 mpg. The stated milage is always a conservative estimate. you are claiming 31 mpg. I call bullshit. Assuming that is that you do have the legacy 4wd. Even if you dont, the 2wd version still only gets 28 mpg. So I call bullshit and stick with my claim the subarus get shitty gas milage. Those are the actual statistics based on owning it for 3 years. Fill with gas = 30 liters...Ok it's actually 32. Full tank - drive for 400 kms. Its 400 kms Chilliwack to Squamish and return and I'm just dipping into the E zone when I turn off the highway in Chilliwack coming home from Squamish.
  2. BUMP fix your links y'all.
  3. Yeah but the locals are more likely to have friends and family reading the site for news too. I mean - 50 people die on average in Chamonix every summer in mountaineering accidents and we don't memorialize each and every one of them. But if one of them was from the PNW we probably would. Dying of hypothermia on a big wall is slow and cruel. Not a good way to go. RIP Japanese climbers
  4. SUBARU HAS REASONABLE MILEAGE The only time the mileage seems bad is if you compare it to a Honda Civic or Tercel or some sort of commuter car. As for "climbing car" - if you want to climb in the Alpine in BC you need a SUV or pickup for the clearance getting over crossditches and waterbars on deactivated logging roads. Other than that get whatever has reliability and mileage. Diesels get OK mileage but at the expense of high particulate etc. emissions. Don't get all "Look at me I'm green" if you have a diesel.
  5. And all this time I assumed the Manly Wham was a sarcastic reference to the homosexuality of the 80's band Wham!
  6. According to SuperTopo, Lambone is not dead, at least not on El Cap, at this time.

  8. Shouldn't you take this to some cryptozoology forum?
  9. Ultimate Everything may be a misleading name, but the pitches are all decent quality. It's great for getting in a first long route of the season. I'm wondering when ppl will start running laps on it, like 3 times in a day.
  10. DFA climbed Bunny Face on TRAD GEAR! Whoa! Holy ethics, Batman! Did he chop the bolts too?
  11. The kitchen is separate from the bunks at Rampart too.
  12. looks like he's a she there knelson
  13. buy chains and use them having a 4wd SUV will not help you when there are 4" of freshiez on the road and you start sliding.
  14. todd do you mean the west ridge of knight, like the one to the col with Lady?
  15. BUMPass Who's got more silly mountain names?
  16. Its much more fun with snow - 10 minutes from summit back down to car.
  17. Hey Bill was there any snow when you did Cheam? Sounds like No.
  18. http://gravsports.com/Ice%20Pages%20Folder/04_05_Ice_conditions/04_05_Ice_conditions.htm Summary as of 3 days ago: will says, no ice yet, conditions are right for it to explode very soon though.
  19. Its the limiting it to 5 that makes the challenge. I had to drop quite a few to get the Murrin Roof Crack boulder on there!
  20. Hauling a crowbar up to remove bolts next to a crack will be hard work. I will pledge some for the restoration effort.
  21. Of course something with Dru in the name would be swank!
  22. Field doesn't come in till late Dec/early Jan. I bet the high Kananaskis, R&D, Marshall Arts, Lemonade Springs etc are all in in the rockies. Probably a good weekend for Sidestreet or Asteroid Alley too, unless it's snowing.
  23. What were the 5 worst routes you've done in the PNW? Don't just make a list, tell us why they were bad. Mine: 1) South slopes of Silvertip. This is an unredeemed slog. At least we got to glissade the top half. The bottom consists of steep sidehill bushwacking with a canyon below and rotten cliffs above. I think we got stung by wasps too. 2) Echelon, Squamish Chief. More vegetation per pitch on this than any other Chief route I have done. all the good pitches are now clean and part of Ultimate verything anyways. 3) Salmon Stakes. Ford creek, slog up frozen talus, all for 190m of low angle WI2 with one short WI3 blip. 4) BS, Domestic Dome. A pitch of sand covered slab. Even Peshastin isnt this bad! 5) Whatever chimney used to be behind Positive Vibrations at Vantage. The only route I have ever climbed where you could feel the chimney changing size when the wind blew. I think half the holds on the back wall I used fell or were pulled off. Nearly killed 3 sport climbers and one dog passing underneath with all the bombs I was dropping.
  24. Wow, you've only done 2 trad routes, and they're both on your top 5!
