  2. No, but (and maybe you’ve seen it) but this recent TR is in the vicinity so might be interesting to look at:
  3. I'm planning on doing Round Mountain 5,368' this weekend, does anyone have any beta on the winter or summer routes.
  4. I have organized a private guided group climb of Mt. Rainier this June, but two members of the group dropped out due to family/personal reasons. Therefore, two spots are open. If you are interested in joining the group, please send me a message, and we can chat about your experience and fitness level. The other six members of the group all have mountaineering and climbing experience over 14,000 ft.
  5. Thanks those of you throwing down $. It really is a morale boost for me, to know that I'm not alone here in keeping this good ship Cascadeclimbers.com. I want to build this so it will last. The challenges for this project are unique, but I've already faced so many keeping this site going that I'm feeling confident we can do this. This is just another bridge to cross, there will be more. We will cross them.

Sounds like we need to do a photo auction! But in the meantime, I'll add in some $$

  8. Thanks for the informational input on Eugene, Oregon, but I just wanted to ask if there are any major changes since 21 years ago 2005. I am planning to move out to Oregon with my daughter, who will be attending SOU in the fall 2026. So, I will need your honest input in helping me choose where to best live at and the jobs there. I hope to hear from you soon!

    Forum work

I just learned of a new headache I’m going to have to deal with. Our apps in the forum won’t migrate to the new version of the forum software without significant refactoring. So i have to refactor/update them. With the new tools I have it’s just going to be a lot of AI tokens to get this work done. I’ve paid for a years license for the AI software, but in this work it’s so intensive that I burn through the daily token credit in a 2 hour session. I can “put more quarters” in the machine, it’s usually 5-15 dollars and then I run against my own time limits. what does this mean? Well this…I have a significant project in this that I need to work on this year. We do have money in the war chest which I can use. I would prefer to hold on that for emergencies, so if possible you can support this project with a small donation. 5-15 dollars supports one evening of me coding and working on this migration. Donate button is at the top. I’m just going to mention this once and will just pull money from from existing funds as needed. This isn’t public radio, no 24 hour telethons here. thanks for being here and your support!
  11. I wanna go in there right now
  12. Here is a couple ideas: before spamming your project on random climbing boards that are actually communities that you had zero engagement with…try doing that. i can write an game/app in two hours and I’m not even a coder. i wish you the best, but don’t spam my people here with this. I would actually just ban this kind of content (if you’re building a relevant app and contribute to our community I will support you), but let this serve as a warning to others.

  14. I realized that only being able to sign up for the montly email via the sidebar wasn't the easiest way to get thie word out, so I created linkable page:https://cascadeclimbers.com/forum/index.php?app=monthlytrmails&module=index&controller=subscribe Share this to your friends via email or via social media or where ever! I encourage you to do so, because the more eyes on our trip reports, the more others are inspired to add there own story here...and that is what we're all here for. So the more the merrier. Get the word out if you can, that is one way to help this site.
  15. Hello Climbers! As a climbing hobbyist and dev hobbyist, I have been working on a 2D puzzle climbing game! Because of my skill, time, and budget (...$0) limitations, I've gone the 2D route and focused more on the puzzle aspect of climbing then realism. You can check it out here! https://store.steampowered.com/app/4440890/Climbing_Simplified/
  16. The tap is turning on BIG TIME this week....I think it all will be changed in a week or so. Bring skis! That said, the low elevation snow is unlikely to be normal. Seems like the dumpage will be mostly above 4k.
  17. We may add features later so you can also sign up to get the Gear sale or other things, but let me know what you want. This is a community first and will continue to be. We not trying to sell you anything, but I sure would love to hear about your trip in the mountains. BTW, if anyone has experience on how to set up an entity as a non-profit, that is the plans we have for this site and community.
  18. I second what Albert said. Do Baker and Rainier at the first available window this year (avy dependent obviously) so probably in April or May this year with the low snow pack. Be flexible with flights and timing, you'll have more luck with partners and maybe they can pick you up at SeaTac! If August is still preferred, consider doing something with a small glacier and some easy rock climbing... Eldorado Peak and vicinity, or Shuksan for example. You can practice glacier skills and some more technical climbing. OR, if you can afford the plane ticket and find a partner, go to Alaska and climb some of the easy glaciated peaks they have there, like White Princess in the Delta Range which can be accessed from the road. They are having a good winter up north so August could still be reasonable. Pretty sure I was in there in late July or early August and it was doable.
  19. Wendy Thompson Hut a few nights ago....
  20. I created a new application that lets you sign up to get a email with a clickable links to all the new TRs for the month. So if you forget we exist you'll be reminded and you'll see all the new TRs. I tested it and it looks good so far. You can opt out and I've tested that. It will also include whatever I have in the "Annoucements" tab. I may put an add in there for AAI occasionally....maybe not...but it could happen so don't be mad it it does. Its cool feature! Let me know if you see anything weird with it. Its on the right sidebar. It disappears after you sign up. I put other logic into it too. When you sign up you won't immediately get an email, but I'll add something right now to let you know you're signed up. The actual email only goes out at the end of the month. But that will be it! No other BS, I promise. I don't want BS either. This is so cool, i'm having fun with this crap!

  23. I can't really help with anything related to coding, but I can buy beer!
  24. Impressive @Lucas Ng!
  25. Really loved reading this one! Appreciate the introspection thrown in, very much can relate to the feelings you express.
  26. 30L challenge ultra 400 500g daypack just finished. Metal G-hooks, sternum adjusters, and shoulder adjusters. super bomber and super stoked
  27. Now that I'm standing on the stilts of AI, I'm making quick progress in remediating some very complex issues that have plagued the site. One has been a problem with new registrations not recieving their registration email so they could sign in. I believe I have it fixed. Try it if you've been frustrated before. The amount of things I fixed just today on this site is amazing. I can't actually believe it myself, but this is where we are at. And its going to get even better. I have plans. I'm looking for accomplices.
