climbingcoastie Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 I'm starting to plan my winter/spring trips and was curious when the best time to go to Banff is. I'm guessing mid February - the end of March, but that's just a guess. Any particular websites dedicated to Canada ice or great guidebooks for that area? Quote

BootsandPants Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 gravsports, broh I went in late December last year and it was pretty good. There are some TRs from people on here, check it out if you need ideas. Quote
genepires Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 my favorite time is late feb early march. statistically warmer temps but not too warm. Most south facing ice still good. cold enough that sloppy avi less likely. More daylight for longer days without headlamps. it is all a crap shoot though. you take your chances and play with what you are dealt. plenty of options if less than perfect conditions. AFAIK, there is no compreshensive guidebook out there. Didn't all the Joshpheson guidebooks go out of print? Maybe someone took up the job but there is a select version out there that gets the good stuff. Quote
