Family friendly backpacking destinations in N Wa

I am planning a father/son backpacking trip with a friend from Portland, so I am looking for something in between us (I'm in Vancouver, BC). I am wondering if you could make any recommendations of a destination or circuit that would be suitable for two middle age men and their 9 year old kids? I'm thinking probably a 3 day, 2 night excursion with no more than 4-6 hrs per day of hiking. If we can access a glacier, cool peak or scenic lake, that would be fantastic. I recall there is a backpacking circuit in the Mt Baker area, but don't remember the name. I also understand Mt Ranier has some pretty spectacular trails - I don't think I would want to venture much further south than that.

 

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

I love the WA coast for kid backpacking. Lots to keep kids occupied and they're never bored. With two cars you could do a long stretch like Oil City to Third Beach: http://www.wta.org/go-hiking/hikes/toleak-point

 

Or you could hike up to the meadows under Tomyhoi and climb to the high point under the summit.

 

Or you could hike up to Spider Meadow and day trip up to Spider Gap (very busy with families).

 

There are probably lots that I'm forgetting.

My 8 year old really liked the Goat Rocks Wilderness and there are some kid friendly summits like Old Snowy.
