though you know, back in the 70's john long and crew...messed with epoxies and other adhesives in search of cleaning climbing methods. in hopes of reducing the amount of holes drilled in blank faces. you can still see a little bit of this on the colombia bolder in camp4....

 

i wonder how much and if any of this could even be aplicable!??

I remember looking at the uphill (north) side of the Columbia Boulder in about 1980 and seeing a line of 1/4" webbing loops glued up the face. As I remember it, they went to the top. I was afraid to try clipping in and standing on one; they looked pretty manky.
