E-rock Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 I have a pair of scarpa T1's and want to get a simple crampon for icy sections of trail on ridgelines in Adirondacks. Anyone havea cheap, light crampon they'd recommend for this use? Quote
rbw1966 Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 Sabretooth. I used them for years on my tele boots and now on my AT boots. Quote
montypiton Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 if you don't need front-points, "micro-spikes" work pretty well, and are far cheaper than any full-on crampon. we've used 'em on water ice to nearly forty-five degrees... Quote
E-rock Posted February 27, 2013 Author Posted February 27, 2013 "micro-spikes"? Can't say I'm familiar. Quote
Jim Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 if you don't need front-points, "micro-spikes" work pretty well, and are far cheaper than any full-on crampon. we've used 'em on water ice to nearly forty-five degrees... and on the Sabers for steeper stuff. If it's only ridge running then microspikes is it. Spikes Quote
Tony_Bentley Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 http://www.petzl.com/en/outdoor/classic-mountaineering-crampons/vasak Check out the dual front bail positions. Excellent for duckbills but adjustable for AT. I bought mine 5 years ago and they have been great, even after I decided to switch to Dynafit. Quote
