Elasticised Lanyard Recall

Saw this on UKClimbing.

Although it applies to via ferrata safety equipment, it looks like the problem would also apply to elasticised ice tool tethers, although compared to ferrata lanyards, which are the belay if you fall, it's rarer or unlikely that those would be in the sole position of stopping a fatal fall (unless you are in the position of using your tethers as body belays while soloing, for instance)

Interesting- Might also be worth noting that many commercially available fall protection lanyards and even a few full body harnesses for industry and construction utilize the elastic design. Having used these for many years, they do seem to fuzz up/wear quickly... ::skull::

The state of construction fall protection lanyards is not an issue. Half of the time it is used in such a way that a ground fall would occur before any tension on said fall protection would happen.
