Leland
We are heading up the Beckey Route tomorrow. Anyone seen how much snow is left on the approach gulley? Wondering if we still need boots and axes...
Quarryographer
Just 3 weeks ago the parking lot was still closed due to snow, and the entire approach was snow. Actually made the approach shorter and more fun I think. It's been melting fast, but I always bring an axe in the cascades. It's worth the weight vs getting shut down after a long walk... NateF
The approach is melted out. No need for boots or axes, except for goat control.
JDCH
the patch of snow this weekend was about the size of a mini cooper. I doubt it will be there by this weekend. No need for boots and axes. maybe a slingshot for the goats though. There is a family with 2 baby goats that are especially fond of raining rocks on unsuspecting climbers in the gully!
