strait_up Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Anybody been up in the area since the January snow/ice storms? Im hoping we dont have to road hike this weekend. Quote
Drederek Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 2 weeks ago you could drive to within a mile or so of the "lower ellinor trailhead" Quote
strait_up Posted February 22, 2012 Author Posted February 22, 2012 Thanks for that update. The forecast is looking interesting so we'll see. Quote
BOEALPS Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 There was a BOEALPS team out that way last weekend and they said they startd about a half hour below where NF-2419 and NF-2464 merge on Google maps, about 2000 ft. They didn't have flotation and it was pretty slow going up the road. They were able to call the ranger station and get a road conditions update before they went. Just a heads up, there will be another team up there doing snow camping for the Basic Climbing Class. Â BOEALPS Outreach Quote
Drederek Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 Today you could drive to within a mile or so of the "lower ellinor trailhead. It'll be a while before you can drive much further than that, theres 2+' of snow at the th. Quote
Drederek Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 Not a great pic but you can see theres still snow at both trailheads and some more further down today. Quote
Doug Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 Made it to the ~2,200' level of the road on Saturday. Quote
JeffreyR Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 looks like the lower trailhead pullout. That bend usually holds snow pretty late in the spring Quote
Eunbi Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 I was at Ellinor yesterday and the road to the lower trailhead is completely clear (although full of potholes). You cannot drive to the upper trailhead yet. Quote
Flying_Ned Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 The road is clear 0.2mi beyond the lower TH, just short of hogback trail to the upper parking area. Snow on the trail begins near the large rock above the junction with lower trail. Quote
Flying_Ned Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 The road is now clear to Washington. Snow blocks the upper Ellinor road above a small slide for 150'. It's clear until the turn at Branch Creek below the parking area. Quote
Flying_Ned Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 Road now clear to Branch Creek, .01 below the upper trailhead. Quote
