jon Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 I thought this might interest some here. http://dalailama.com/messages/tibet/reincarnation-statement If I'm reading this correctly the Dalai Lama is basically saying that he might choose not be reincarnated as the 15th Dalai Lama because of China's interference in having a true Dalai Lama. I find it very sad that this is happening to one of the most open and accepting religions in the world. But somehow some dancing with the star nip slip is bigger news then this. Very sad. Quote
tvashtarkatena Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 It's hard to exploit ever loving kindness. There's no real money in it, either. Plus, enlightenment is just too damn much work. Good bye 8 fold path, hell-o Christianity and Islam. Here's your Bible/Koran, but you don't need to read 'em. I'll tell you what it means. There will be no Q/A. Let's get these monkeys in line. Quote
ivan Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 buddhism seems a much cooler religion than the other big ones, but there's still been plenty of asshole buddhists over the years (and i'm noting even holding them accountable for jack keroac) Quote
ivan Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 i've always wondered why more americans aren't buddhists, as more americans look like buddha than jesus, no? Quote
tvashtarkatena Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 In this relativistic universe, it's helpful to compare the level of assholishness of Buddhism compared to our cult of choice here at home. Nuff said there... I guess I'll have to exclude the Unitarians and maybe a few of the less glitzy incarnations of the Krist Klub. Their home-made cookies rock. As for evangelicals, well...never met one that wasn't a complete and utter tool. Like flies to shit, I tell ye. Quote
