jwilson23
Looking for a partner to make the trip into Colchuck Lake and climb Serpentine Arete last half of May. Have all gear and schedule flexibility.
bruce59
This route is on my list but I wonder about the timing. It may be a little early in the season account of all the snow we've had this year. I've never been to that area. Any idea if the route would be in condition? Anybody have an opinion?
fredrogers
It's north facing and at elevation- so my guess is highly unlikely unless we have sustained period of warming between now and then- or unless you want to climb it in mixed conditions. Alex
Its debateable whether the route will be in, but less likely even that the approach will be "in". The route is routinely climbed from the TH as a day trip later in the season, but you're going to be lucky or really good to do that in late May. cbcbd
From the stuart lake trail on 5/5 the NW face of dragontail looked like it had much snow and lots of ice - ie. TC runnels still looking very white and filled. At this point I think the first warm temps are only going to make things icier on that face. telemarker
NE face please  Some hefty cornices overhanging that face but maybe the warm temps in the next couple days will take care of that.
cbcbd
Hmm... didn't the site use to accept full size files? Â Anyway, here it is somewhere else: Â And a sideways pic of part of NW face of Dragontail.
