Mass Republicans Attack Collective Bargaining...

Oh wait...

"Pop quiz: What political party, in what state, this week passed a bill in the dead of night stripping public-sector unions of their collective- bargaining powers? Republicans in Wisconsin? The GOP in Ohio or Indiana?

Try Democrats in Massachusetts..."

If there was ever a claque of inbred, cousin-humping, bible-thumping fundamentalist Redneck regressives who hate public sector workers elected anywhere, it's the members of the Democratic majority in the Mass legistlature...

JayB is still struggling with the idea that DLC Democrats are neoliberal corporatists like most right wingers. In that context, it is clearly difficult to make sense of the "Democrats are shoshalists" moronic propaganda. JayB probably didn't notice either that Democrats are pushing austerity measures and cutting social programs at state levels like right wingers do. Neither does he seem to notice that blue dogs are pushing for privatization of public schools, implemented the GOP plan for health care reform, are pursuing as many wars as neocons, voted for tax breaks, etc.

You'd think that by now, JayB would have figured out that he should pay attention to what pols do and not what they say but that would demand taking off the ideological blinders so that probably won't happen.

Considering that the Obama administration itself is one of the biggest supporters of the Republican platform in general, you'd think this wouldn't come as too much of a surprise.

It's the classic good cop, bad cop routine. None of them will acknowledge it though because Democrats still want to muzzle the progressive vote and so far, they only have to rattle the specter of a GOP electoral win to do so, while Republicans and other right wingers want to keep moving the Overton window to the right presumably to recreate robber baron times.

Apparently it's easier to believe that Western politicians (see European "socialists") are just prudently operating in our best interests.

Having lived in Mass for three long years, I admit to being quite surprised to year that the Democratic members of the legislature are of the DLC type.

I'm also quite astonished to learn that they've been mercilessly squeezing public sector workers there in pursuit of cost-efficient operations with an eye to maximizing the services that taxpayers there get for their money.

To take but one small example, consider the Mass Turnpike:

Yet, you'd think that the spectacle of GOPers repeatedly voting for Clinton's neoliberal agenda, followed by Democrats repeatedly voting for Bush's neocon agenda would have removed all pretense that anything other than the business party controls policy.

More propaganda from the king of cherry picking. On average, Public employees are still compensated less (~-4%) than private sector employees for equivalent qualification and experience.
