Trip: Super Choss 2011 - Numerous

Date: 4/10/2011

Trip Report:

I've had it- too much rain. Escaped to Mission Creek and Chumstick Snag for some sandy, chossy but reasonably dry adventure with Reilly 81. Even brought the dogs...

Heads up on a couple points:

I think it's nice to check in with the FS easment landowner at Chumstick (Marty), so as not to get blocked in, and unfortunately, the big rusty block under the trade route belay station is loose and likely not long for this world. It is avoidable however.

Gear Notes:

Nerves of steel, feet of C4 rubber, chicken wing arms, Vitamin D for sunlight deficiency, push broom

Approach Notes:

Mission Creek Road up near Cashmere, Spromberg canyon Road off the Plain Hwy

It's worth noting that there is another climb up there I put up in ~2002. It's located on the slabs beside and below the Chumstick facing south. Rap off the 2nd ponderosa pine to the west of the standard route. 45 meter pebble pinching cobble stomping .10a. Not bad if yer up there anyway. A bit sandy just at the top, but quite fun. 9 clips

I was going to make a midget leaprechan comment but thought better of it.

Heading further to the south and east to the SF Owyhee in a couple days.

Lets hook up for some climby climby and/or paddlely paddlely when I get back.

Do note that the word TICK is cleverly captured within the namesake. Several (8 or 9) were removed from doggies after the adventure. Luckily I try to keep my blood alcohol level sustained to a point where the ticks just avoid me :)
