DPS
I've been having fun making some simple but useful gear mods. http://www.themountain-life.blogspot.com/ Edited April 6, 2011 by DPS
Friedrich
Hey that is a pretty good idea there dude. I'd love to see how that top piece holds up under repeated pounding. If it works well, you should propose the mod to MSR! I bet if Larry Penberthy were still alive (RIP) we'd see that modification offered at retail next season. Nice blog. wdietsch
one comment on your girth hitched picket ... using a Petzl string or any sort of o-ring gizmo on an open loop sling is bad news and a huge potential safety issue The danger of open slings no disrespect intended .. with all the recent "newbie" posts, I wouldn't want this to go unnoticed. Friedrich
Good video. At first I wasn't sure how this was relevant to this particular mod, because it didn't have anything to do with pickets. Then I looked at his blog post again and I realized you were looking at the rubber keeper on the sling joining the picket and his locking biner. You have some sharp eyes, I didn't notice that. rob
He wasn't referring to the girth hitch, he was referring to the rubberband next to the biner on the girth hitched sling.

Julian
Good post. The problem you identify is why I like the Yates pickets.

DPS
Has there been any research done on the relative strength of the different picket designs?
