Captain panther
I was thinking about trying Sir Donald sometime this winter and have wondered about climbing other peaks around there, Uto and Eagle among others. Have any of you done the NW ridge or north face in the winter? Any beta? And what is a good guide book for that area?

G-spotter
In his guidebook Dave makes a point of explaining that the only winter mountaineering that really goes on in the Selkirks is ski mountaineering, and the reasons (snowpack, avalanches, and weather) why this is so. Only something like 3 of the technical (non-ski) routes in the whole Selkirks South guide had had winter ascents at the time he wrote the book, although I believe Greg Hill's pushed that a bit since then..... kukuzka1
Nasty weather, heavy snowfall, and big avalanche county. other than that it should be doable. After I did 98% of it in summer of 98 I was thinking that it would make a spectacular winter climb. havent heard or read about it being done in winter?
