kevino Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 Just as a heads up for people thinking of heading to this area and nearby vicinity... Saw a large smoke plume driving home to Ellensburg after climbing in tieton. Looking from Elensburgs, the smoke runs from about little annapurna all the way down the wenatchee mountains. link Quote
maxhasson Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 View of the fire from CBR on Friday. Saw flames occasionally but mostly smoke. Didn't see any low flying aircraft or FS personnel. Quote
tilia Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 Today's update: "This fire in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness usually sends up smoke in the late afternoon & into the evening, after things have dried out a bit and the area heats up. There was some good smoke Friday eve, as it hit some fuel pockets. This fire also received moisture over the weekend. Not enough for a season ending event, but enough to slow it down. The fire has not burned to the lake - it was burning in an east-west pattern over the weekend. We guesstimated the acreage at 155 this a.m. and after flights, will know more. All trail closures remain the same. Reports will be "occasional" unless the fires begin making some runs, or smoke is noticeably present." Quote
bush-in-sky Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 Here are a few pictures of the 8-mile fire viewed from the N Ridge of Stuart on Saturday: Quote
cfire Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 FYI - Drove into Colchuck trailhead 2 nights ago and the trailhead was taped off and closed. Last night all tape and trail closure signs were cleared, so I'd assume it's opened back up. Quote
Kyle_Flick Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 It's open. Chris, what did you climb? Quote
