mrpink Posted March 22, 2010 Author Posted March 22, 2010 You guys are awesome! Yes i was thinking music via ipod. I am with you guys about not listening to music while climbing. i was thinking more along the lines of the approach or like one of you said while in the tent. Quote
rocketparrotlet Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 I don't bring music with me, but it's often in my head when climbing. When taking off on an ice lead, it's the Tool version of "No Quarter". Something from Siamese Dream on a rock lead, and maybe something more peaceful if I'm following or on an alpine route. Led Zeppelin's great on the way home. -Mark Quote
jmace Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 How about keepin' your ears open to the lovely sounds of nature? Climbing....the outdoors....remember that part? How 'bout being alert to the sound of falling rocks aiming at yo' head, the scary sound of an approaching avalanche, or the leashed/unleashed pit bull attacking and distracting your belayer below? My last few phones all have speakers, so its easy to just drop in the front pocket or prop up at the belay and listen to some tunes and for the falling rock. Quote
hafilax Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 Why is everyone so afraid of asking the gym staff to change the music? Maybe I should bring some music climbing to get rid of the stupid songs that get stuck in my head. Quote
sobo Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 Maybe I should bring some music climbing to get rid of the stupid songs that get stuck in my head. Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale, A tale of a fateful trip That started from this tropic port Aboard this tiny ship. The Mate was a mighty sailing man, The Skipper brave and sure. Five passengers set sail that day For a three hour tour... a three hour tour. The weather started getting rough, The tiny ship was tossed, If not for the courage of the fearless crew The Minnow would be lost... the Minnow would be lost. The ship set ground on the shore of this uncharted desert isle With Gilligan The Skipper too, The millionaire and his wife, The movie star The Professor and Mary Ann, Here on Gilligans Isle. So this is the tale of the castways, They're here for a long, long time, They'll have to make the best of things, It's an uphill climb. The First Mate and the Skipper too, Will do their very best, To make the others comfortable, In their tropic island nest. No phone, no lights, no motor cars, Not a single luxury, Like Robinson Crusoe, As primitive as can be. So join us here each week my friends, You're sure to get a smile, From seven stranded castways, Here on Gilligan's Isle. How's that for getting a shitty song stuck in your head? I know I'm going to humming it for the rest of the night, now... Quote

Maybe I should bring some music climbing to get rid of the stupid songs that get stuck in my head. What are you talking about? In general most gyms I have been to play decent music and not rock & roll. When I am at the gym (lately that is the only climbing I am getting), I listen to DJ mixes, podcasts, new hip hop and electronica. It all my music on my docking station at the American school. When I am really climbing I just like to listen. No music. Quote
