sunnyseattle Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 (edited) I have been accumulating trad gear piece by piece over this winter and want to get out and practice placing gear and hanging belays and anchors (all right off the ground) and was wondering if Exit 32 or 38 would be worthwhile to go to this sunday to practice. (will it be too wet or mossy/slimy?). I'd prefer to keep my drive as short as possible so thats why i was thinking exit 32. I've never been there but am fairly familiar with some of the areas there...any recommendations on what wall or route to practice on (a few feet off the ground) if its even worth going to in the first place. Thanks or would index be better/worthwhile...a bit further but not too much Edited January 29, 2010 by sunnyseattle Quote
matt_warfield Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 Minimal trad at E32 and E38 unless you want to incorporate bolts in your practice. Plus wet. I concur with RuMR because the last I heard there are quite a few cracks at Index. Try Great Northern Slab area first. Quote
mountainsloth Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 i used to practice my gear placements at 32 just past the black wall. There are a few gear routes, but they are super short. I am not sure how much hanging belays you will be able to build, but there are definitely a handful of easy and short trad routes all in one small area. Quote
