Helping Haitians Through the Red Cross

Cross Post, but I don't really give a shit...

 

I just texted "Haiti" to 90999. $10 will be sent to the Red Cross (and added to my next phone bill) to help the poor people of Haiti, who had almost nothing to begin with, and now have less than nothing, and will have to bear even more horror and misery in the days to come, while I drive around drinking Starbucks coffee in a car with heated seats. I can't sit in a chair for an hour and spend less than $10, while these people have no food, or water, and can't even bury their dead with dignity. I also live near the Cascadia megathrust fault. Karma...

i hope you texters can help - i'm too much of a dumb-ass cynic to think so though - historically the best thing for haitians to do has always seemed to leave

President Obama has announced that former Presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton will be spearheading a private fund raising effort for the people of Haiti. President Bush said it best:

 

"Our hearts are broken when we see the scenes of little children struggling without a mom or dad, or the bodies on the ground or the physical damage of the earthquake," Bush said. "The most effective way for Americans to help the people of Haiti is to contribute money.

 

"I know a lot of Americans want to send blankets and water," Bush said with a knowing nod, looking at the cameras: "Just send your cash."

This isn't really a spray topic, and in this forum it tends to bring out some inappropriate ugly behavior, especially in light of this mass tragedy. I've locked this thread and suggest folks take their concern and suggestions to this thread in the Climbers Board.
