AlpineBEAU.509 Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Trip: British Columbia - Gibralter Wall Date: 1/7/2010 Trip Report: Last Week Robert and I headed to Canada to climb Gibralter wall and then head to Banff for some more ice. we left spokane in the afternoon of the 6th. and made it to Cranbrook by nightfall. we awoke to -15F. By the time we reached the wall it was +5F, so we decided to give it a shot. We chose the right side of the wall. It was a wonderful day of climbing, the ice was brittle due to the cold, but we made it to the top. A few raps at dusk and we were off for a hot meal. We then headed to Banff for some more climbing with a quick stop at Fairmont Hot springs. Gibralter seemed to set the tone for the trip. A Great time with a great Partner. Cant Wait To get back up there! We only had an iPhone for pictures wich went dead after the climb for the reainder of the trip. http://www.cascadeclimbers.com/plab/data/500/medium/17454_226963872823_540547823_2685461_1526578_n.jpg[/img We only had an iPhone for pictures wich went dead after the climb for the reainder of the trip. Gear Notes: Ice Rack Approach Notes: Take the Kootnai from Canal Flats. Quote

Bob Loomis Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Congratulations Beau, I am proud of you. You have come a long way in a short amount of time as an ice climber. You are like a good wine--only going to get better with age (and experience). Keep it up, for sure, and get some better tools while you are at it :-) ! Cheers, Bob Loomis, Spokane, WA. Quote

Calder Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 Nice Job. I love that wall, it's so much fun. I was wondering how it was coming this year. Thanks for posting. Quote
genepires Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 nice job. sounds cold. The gib wall seems a little thin for usual conditions. Quote
