Bronco Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 I have a MH Phantom 40 and pretty happy with it in temps down into the 20's so far. I'm a pretty warm (fat) sleeper. I think I paid about a hundred bucks for it on sale. Glad not to have to lug my 20 degree bag around anymore. Quote
zeroforhire Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 vireo in eVent is the holy grail of minimalist mountaineering. Great bag made by a great company. Quote
iceaxe23 Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 I have a (don't laugh) The North face Beeline with 850 fill down 30°F rating and is about 21oz so far so good. has some scary light shell fabric that only has a DWR finish on it though so I'm looking for a light bivy I also picked up one of there new elephants foot half bags that has a w/b shell and just over a pound. Dane Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 Vireo in eVent is the holy grail of minimalist mountaineering. Great bag made by a great company. Just used mine at 5/10F with a Mtn Hardware Compressor....while not what I would call toasty, I was able to just barely refrain from spooning my partner. I did get some sleep and didn't want to get out of the bag in the morning. What more can you ask? (and I wouldn't want to have to use it any colder than that!) Quote
robpatterson5 Posted December 9, 2009 Author Posted December 9, 2009 So, anyone have a Vireo for sale? Andy Kirkpatrick has a good post about this on his blog. Quote
stever Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 Sorry to bring this up again: did you end up getting the Vireo? Quote
robpatterson5 Posted April 14, 2010 Author Posted April 14, 2010 no I'm looking for a used one still, any reason? Quote
robpatterson5 Posted May 11, 2010 Author Posted May 11, 2010 Thought I would bring this one up again as summer seems to be just around the corner, what do people normally wear/use with their UL bags in the spring/summer? I just bought a Viero and now am wondering what temperatures people use theirs to with different combination of clothing, bivys, pads, tents, ect? Until now I've been useing a 2lb 20F down bag spring through fall, any advice going lighter? Cheers, Quote
Dane Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 Vario? Everything I have with me stays on winter or summer. Always with at least a super thin foam pad. More the better. Here is another choice of for a lwt bag but Primaloft synthetic. http://www.integraldesigns.com/product_detail.cfm?id=718&CFID=7378347&CFTOKEN=43005992 Quote
