AlpineK Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 Trip: Muir Snowfield - The standard ski route down Date: 9/8/2009 Trip Report: Muir on Tuesday After seeing the recent skiing stoke thread I figured it would be fun to put this on the board. Back last Friday a few of us started talking about upcoming weather. According to NOAA Labor Day weekend was going to generate some snow up high then Tuesday would have sunny skies. As far as I was concerned that meant Tuesday was an ideal day to ski. Amar A and I drove up to Paradise on Tuesday. No freshiez at Paradise, but we could see fresh looking white stuff above. Freshiez for sure, but I like my skis too much to ski this. Upper Muir snowfield. Not surprisingly we weren't the first to think of skiing on a sunny day after new snowfall. Here's the obligatory shot of the party at Muir Freshiez from Muir to Pebble Creek Quite a fun day. The standard Muir snowfield ain't rad gnar, but it can be fun. There were only a few inches of new snow on top of older snow. Given the temperatures it will probably melt by tomorrow, but it's a start. Gear Notes: Bring snow sliding gear Approach Notes: The snowfield is well traveled and there's an obvious track to Muir on a nice day. Be very scared if visibility is poor. Route finding really sucks if the weather isn't good. Quote
cman Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 Nice pics, how many months are you up to now? Quote
AlpineK Posted September 10, 2009 Author Posted September 10, 2009 I just hit two years straight of skiing at least once a month. If nothing else it's a good workout, and you get to slide on snow as a reward for your effort. Quote
