Frenchy Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 Im sure some old fudgity south western Washington logger knows where a stash of rock is way out on some forgotten FS road. There are erratics everywhere. A few sizeables in capitol forest. Half a volkswagon in the neighbors yard. A flatbed in some Redmond shmucks yard I noticed on a UPS route. Some are salt and pepper. Some are drab. Quote
snoboy Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 I thought this was going to be a thread about REI or MEC... Quote
Off_White Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 ...or Sievebone's RAM function. Â what, like "punk punk punk"? Quote
j_b Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 There shouldn't be many if any in southwestern WA as continental glaciation didn't make it that far. But, there used to be a lot more around Seattle before they were carted/blasted away. Just imagine the lost potential. Quote
Off_White Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 There are a number of bits of granite on my property in Tenino that have no business being here, but it seems like I read somewhere that my hill is a terminal moraine. There's plenty of granite in the alluvial outwash around here too, including a delightful white granite boulder in the parking lot of a gravel quarry nearby. Quote
j_b Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 COntinental glaciation reached a little south of Olympia (probably close to Tenino) during the last Pleistocene event, but you are also just down the road from Rainier. Which is it? Quote
