t_rutl Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 got a buddy coming in from MI who wants to give Rainier hell...made our reservations at the beginning of the season for 3 days so he'd have some snow skills practice blah blah blah... with the extra time thinking of lugging up the picks if there was an easily accessable area outside of Muir to do some ice climbing off serac/crevasse walls anybody up there recently who could comment? word, -T Quote
DPS Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 There might be some crevasses you could lower into on the Cowlitz. Quote
TMO Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 You could always spend a day down low and hit the lower Nisqually Glacier... fun stuff. Quote
tvashtarkatena Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 David Gottlieb or one of the other climbing rangers might also have some spots to recommend if you give them a call. Quote
t_rutl Posted August 25, 2009 Author Posted August 25, 2009 FYI...few good ones just below Muir (15 min jaunt) to drop into...most with good ledges or floors to start from...no ramp entries however Quote
