DPS
Pete Sinclair has a nice account of this rescue in his book "We Aspired - The Last Innocent Americans".
Ponderosa
A fine story and great photos - particularly, of the North Face. Also, nice to put some faces with names I've known for over thirty years.
Gary_Yngve
wow, it's crazy how many folks in the story were pursuing phds or were professors. was that just draft-dodging, or mostly that climbing has become more mainstream since then? ScaredSilly
Most of those on the rescue were dirt bags that had already served their 2 years. PS I am proud to say that some of those dirt bags are good friends who I have had the privilege to share a rope with on many of occasion. PSS Rumors are that there is movie documentary in the works.
