thelawgoddess Posted July 24, 2002 Posted July 24, 2002 i need to take a day off from work this week. that's what my boss says anyway. tough, i know. but anyway ... day off ... hmm ... what should i do? so many things cross my mind! but none of them quite strike my fancy like the ones that have to do with climbing. one day, though, isn't really enough time to get my fill of squamish. but god, i LOVE multi-pitch stuff. and i would like to work on my trad leads as well. so i was thinking orbit might be my kind of fun. anybody else's? Cpt.Caveman Posted July 24, 2002 Posted July 24, 2002 Orbit is pretty cool. Take the chimney and pitch leading to the belay stance Pitch 1 and 3 and then the rest too. Those upper pitches are fun. Knobs galore. Quote
Cpt.Caveman Posted July 24, 2002 Posted July 24, 2002 2 Entire pitches of slinging and climbing chickenheads. Have fun. Quote
Cpt.Caveman Posted July 24, 2002 Posted July 24, 2002 Orbit has short protectable cruxes and is way better. R&D is essentially a roadside 3 pitch climb if you got a 60M rope. Very nice but not quite the same. Quote
Greg_W Posted July 24, 2002 Posted July 24, 2002 I agree with Iceguy, R&D is very fun for the easy grade. Pro everywhere. Climb it early or late in the day, though; could get hot. Quote
thelawgoddess Posted July 24, 2002 Author Posted July 24, 2002 i've seen r&d. i think i'd rather save that for leading with a friend who doesn't really climb. i want to do something a little more challenging this week. Quote
Cpt.Caveman Posted July 24, 2002 Posted July 24, 2002 Go for orbit and dont settle for less. I was a beginner first season on gear and lead the chimney and other pitch I mentioned. Bring some small cams or stoppers for that upper slab. Long slings good too. It might be a little warm up there so bring some booze Quote
erik Posted July 24, 2002 Posted July 24, 2002 ray, i think it is irresponsible for you to give erronous beta like that...."some booze" wtf man.....bring the whole damn 5th............ Quote
