I'm having a very hard time deciding which AT ski to buy. I've read countless articles and now the differences between the two skis, pros and cons, and the like. That being said, I still cannot make up my mind on which ski to buy. Can someone with some experience riding the Shuksans attest that they ride decently in soft snow? There are arguments for both skis as all-mountains skis, it would be helpful if I could hear some of those reasons from you who ski them. All advice is much appreciated...

Why don't you just demo both and decide for yourself? Most shops will apply the demo fee to the cost of a purchase. However, maybe you plan on buying online or other such option? Good luck, let us know what you end up with and how you like them in various conditions. I'm looking to upgrade my AT set up when I get my stimulus-bailout-welfare-socialisti-hedonistic money. I'm holding my breath till it is automatically deposited into my account.

I've got the Baker Super Lights and I really like them. I used them about 45 days this season as both my inbouds/slackcountry ski and my touring/ski mountaineering ski. For backcountry applications, you can't beat them, especially considering their weight. I wish they were a little stiffer for the inbounds riding, but the normal Mt Baker would fit that bill. I have no experience with the Shuksan, but hte Mt. Baker has a versitile and fun geometry, which I would recomend.

I have Mt. Baker Super Lites, and I love them. Great all around ski, handle all conditions well. In real deep pow they could use a little more width, but then they wouldn't handle other stuff (like hard pack) as well. MHO is the super lites are a little "snappier" than the regular Mt. Bakers. If I remember right the Shuksan's are a little skinnier than the Baker's. If you're looking for a true one quiver ski, my opinion is Mt. Baker's are it. I've got Freerides mounted on mine and use them for front/slack/side/backcountry.

I've owned K2 Shuksans for years. I've had a really good experience with them, and used them on several multi-day ski traverses.

I don't have any experience with the MB Super Lites.

I think the advice about renting each for demo is really good advice. Everybody has their own experience with different skis.
