kevino Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 (edited) Trip: Enchantments - Little Annapurna, Enchantment Pk, Cannon Mtn Date: 7/31/2008 Trip Report: While this is only a bunch of scrambling and nothing to write home about, I figured some new pictures wouldn't hurt anyone. the plan: without a partner = no technical climbing. so i'd figure I'd head up to the enchantments and scramble the easy peaks: little annapurna, mcclellan, enchantment peak and cannon mtn, then finish the loop from cannon back down to the TH. What actually happend: after reaching the summit of little annapurna in 3:45 from the TH, I quickly realized my legs were shot. I jumped hopped and slid down to cyrstal lake and decided to cut out mcclellan peak and just scramble the other two. from there it went smoothely until the bushwack from hell down to the TH. Desceding 5000 feet left me covered in dirt, bushes, blood, bites and sweat. Now for pictuers! Morning reflection on colchuck lake: The greeter at top of assgard pass: Temple ridge from summit of lil annapurna: This guy head butted the other ones out of the way: They followed me I swear: The block house: Third summit of the day: Pano from enchantment peak: I have a bunch more pictures/beta if anyone needs or want any. actually here is a link to the album. enjoy. Basically this is a cry for help: NEEDED - WEEKDAY ALPINE CLIMBING PARTNERS Edited August 1, 2008 by kevino Quote
spotly Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 That was an ambitious day. That's an excellent reflection shot on Colchuck. I'll be up there for 4 days of solo in late September. I'd like to grab Prusik Peak but not willing to haul up gear in the off-chance that someone could join me. Quote
Klinemelissa Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 Awesome report! We are headed up this weekend - when you passed by Colchuck lake - how did the glacier look? We are debating whether to haul up crampons for the Colchuck glacier route. Thanks! Quote
kevino Posted August 1, 2008 Author Posted August 1, 2008 Spotly, what route on prusik? I would be willing to meet up with you if the dates worked out, etc. Been wanting to get up there for a while as well! Kline, you'd probably need crampons. The glacier is exposed in places - but I didn't look too closely. Quote
AlpineMonkey Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 Good hike Kevin, that Bush wack down from Canyon is Hell. Thats Box Top, not Block House, just to let you know. Quote

I'll be camped at Gnome Tarn on the evening of Friday, Sept 26th. I gotta be out of the area by Saturday evening (27th) so a Friday or Saturday climb would work for me. The only route I could lead would be the 5.7 West Ridge. The South Face 5.9 routes look like fun too and I could follow if I found someone set on one of them. Quote
chrisr Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 when I looked at the glacier last weekend I thought that I would definitely want crampons. Steep blue ice through the middle. Quote
Bug Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 How are the bugs? Bad/really bad/endless swarms/just don't go. Quote
telemarker Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 How are the bugs? Bad/really bad/endless swarms/just don't go. Kyle and I were on Backbone last Saturday, and there was an alarming LACK of mosquitos and biting flies, compared to two weeks ago when they were incessant and blood starved. Intersting... Quote
kevino Posted August 6, 2008 Author Posted August 6, 2008 I didn't think they were bad at all. The only time I wad annoyed with them was on the descent from cannon back to the TH, after reaching like 6k ft. Quote
