brokenhalo Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 (edited) Trip: Mt Hood - South Side to Crater Rock Date: 2/14/2008 Trip Report: I went up just to Crater Rock. Variable conditions from hard pack to 4"-6"snow. Crater Rock at 7am, and approx 15-20mph winds, with a few gusts. Leeward SE slopes are wind loaded, but otherwise everything was pretty solid. Heavy snow on the Old Chute route, but pearly gates route possibly negotiable with anchors/(technical)? Good temps, and weather all around. Edited February 15, 2008 by brokenhalo Quote
ivan Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 nice - seems like it's been forever since anyone's done a tr on climbing hood - guess the weather's just sucked - driving home from pdx tonight everything was beatiful on the mtn 'cept a giant lenticular above crater rock Quote
billbob Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Hey thanks for the nice early morning pics, looks like somebody has the alpine start down. We need a guinea pig for the first run up that WCR slab, wait and see if there aren't a few volunteers this weekend. Quote
letsroll Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Might take that slab down. it has to be settling good. Figure good for turns by monday? Quote

RogerJ Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 Ah to be up there and not at my desk today.... The weather has been so off this winter. Nice change of pace this weekend. I am looking forward to a lot of good turns this spring. -r Quote
