ClimbingPanther
Hillary Clinton- $340 million Barack Obama- $91 million John McCain- $0 How much are earmarks influenced by lobbyists? Ouch, there's a stat that *should* single-handedly nail the coffin on Hillary. Of course, Bush's $6,210,938,571,965 earmark for the war makes them all look like saints. With that kind of money, you could insure a lot of people with the best single-provider health insurance a socialist regime can offer! Bring it. foraker
They sucked then. They suck now. Of course, if people would stop *asking* for them....

ClimbingPanther
aw, don't be so harsh, the bone just asked an honest question. kev, an earmark (for the purpose of this discussion) is when a US Senator or Congressman/woman asks for money from the federal government for a project that really only benefits their own state. They put an earmark in a huge bill so nobody really notices, and when voting against the bill makes everyone look bad. i.e. a bunch of senators put in millions upon millions of dollars in earmarks on a minimum wage bill. Therefore, if you vote against the minimum wage bill because there's earmarks in it, you will be labeled anti-poor people. Now there are probably some earmarks which really do benefit the nation somehow, but there's no oversight whatsoever and if McCain didn't ask for a red cent, then they're apparently not all that necessary.
