robotsweat Posted February 12, 2008 Share Posted February 12, 2008 (edited) I recently found a pair of koflach superpipes at my local salvation army and picked them up for $5.35, needing a pair of welted boots to mate to some borrowed crampons to try to work an approach out for a climb. On my first day out in them, I found that the laces were frozen solid, so I cut them off just wanting to be out of the boots. I am curious if anyone has any recommendations for laces that wont freeze, it seems sort of crazy that these boots which seem pretty skookum otherwise would have laces that freeze. Not used to laces freezing on my snowboard boots - but maybe there is reasoning behind using the cheesy skinny laces. And, actually, Koflach Superpipe boots are snowboard boots (for use with plate bindings), but I guess they work just as well as mountaineering boots.
