I have looked into them. If you go up to Baker, the Glacier Ski Shop has some they rent out.

I have two pair of Icelantics. The 154 Nomads and the 161 Shamans. The are fat, light, carve and float like motherfuckers.

Fear if you don't mind me asking, how tall and how much do you weigh?

 

I am 6ft5 and 200 lbs. With that short ski I just wonder.

Let's roll- we're the same size, and I had that debate too. I just got a pair of 174 Kailas skis mounted. Several friends kept telling me to go short and fat, but those skis seemed tiny. Several online calculators showed the effective surface area of the Kailas is identical to my 191 cm TM:EX, so something like the Icelantics is probably even much bigger than the skis you are now on.

The Kailas look interesting. I am running 190 tm:x, and 190 gotama. So going down to the Icelantics would be a huge change.

I'm a fan of short fat skis although I don't have much experience on modern boards. As mentioned on every ski thread I've posted to I'm on 168 Gotamas @ 150#, 5'8"

At 5'8'' 165 I am skiing the BD Verdict and Voile Insane at 170 and 172 respectively. I'm not 100% ready to ski 165 or less, but getting there.

 

Both those skis ski really well. Not trying to throw more options into the discussion

I fucking love these skis. just got a pair of the 73 shamans and they kill whitey! i put a pair of the new dynafits on um and its a really nice light pow ski! im 6'6" and am 185. i wouldnt want them shorter or longer-they purfekt. get sum...seriously

I am sure. This is the perfect season so far for them, powder!!! It will be interesting to see what you think on hardpack and spring conditions. That is when I switch to skinnier skis.

They are not my only pair of skis...pow only for these skis. although they handle fine on the groomers, i havent rode them on ice and probably wont.

A couple of weeks ago I got the 174 Kailas w/dynafits, love them. Skied a bit on hardpack, they were aggro. Then 5 days backcountry, they were floaty, solid, great. I'm 6' 175, have been skiing TMX or TMEX last 5 years, always 184's. I was a little concerned going to 174s, but they have been sick.

 

I have heard a lot of good things about those Icelantics too!
