Peter_Puget Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 I was listening to a '68 Steve Miller live tape this morning and realized that blues based rock seems to have disappeared from my radar at least. Are there any rockin' blues based groups any more? BTW - Steve Miller in '68 was very different from the mid 70s Steve Miller. Quote
builder206 Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 Trivia. Steve Miller went to my hoity-toity private high school in Dallas. He was classmates with Boz Scaggs. Scaggs was expelled but Miller graduated. Tommy Lee Jones also went to the same school. Quote
Peter_Puget Posted October 23, 2007 Author Posted October 23, 2007 More tivia for you under 25 yo Boz Scaggs was in the Steve Miller band in '68 Quote
olyclimber Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 At least one of the White Stripes albums definitely has bluesy type songs on it, and some of these kids are listening to that. But I'm just a little over 25, so I can't answer the question Quote
lI1|1! Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 still more trivia. there are two Engelbert Humperdincks. and Quote
builder206 Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 No. The first lived in the 'way back before photography, something like the 16th or 17th century. Quote
dt_3pin Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 Black Keys. Not necessarily blues-based, but their sound certainly refers back to 'classic' rock. Quote
lI1|1! Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 No. The first lived in the 'way back before photography, something like the 16th or 17th century. Engelbert Humperdinck (September 1, 1854 – September 27, 1921) was a German composer, best known for his opera, Hänsel und Gretel (1893). i actually saw a performance of Hänsel und Gretel the opera in germany once. it was awesome. builder206 Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 Maybe you're right but I have a memory-fragment of a composer by that same name from the early Baroque period, early 17th century. Quote

Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 Maybe you're right but I have a memory-fragment of a composer by that same name from the early Baroque period, early 17th century. ur prolly thinking of this guy: Prince Humperdinck is the villain of William Goldman's 1973 comic adventure novel, The Princess Bride. In Rob Reiner's 1987 film adaptation, he was portrayed by Chris Sarandon. Quote
Peter_Puget Posted October 23, 2007 Author Posted October 23, 2007 Hey guys unless Engelbert plays a harmonica and sings about "giving you his lovin'" he belongs on another thread! grrrrr Quote
