Bugaboos from Seattle -- high or low traverse?

Hello,

 

Last time I drove to the Bugs was from Portland, and we had a friend to visit in Sandpoint -- so we went that way.

 

I am wondering if there's any consensus (I doubt it!) about the fastest way to get to the Bugs from Seattle -- via Spokane/Sandpoint, or cross the border first and go east on major Canadian hwy?

I think that 90 to Idaho and then north is faster, probably by a couple hours. But highway 1 through BC is gorgeous.

Yeah -- mapquest is confirming what you are saying -- Sandpoint seems QUICKER by 1.5 hours or so, but maybe I'll take the pretty drive instead....at least, on the way back!

you're talking about the land sans freeways

I-90 to Coeur d'Alene, then north through Sandpoint...I've found that to be the quickest.

If you go via SandPoint, there is less driving on two lane roadways with aggressive truckers and you miss that speed trap in Sycamous, too.
