My trip to Stuart N. Ridge next weekend is being pushed off - partner has a foot problem :(

Anyhoo, he still wants to get out for a Fri-Sun trip but gotta scale back. Corteo lools like fun but can't find any beta on routes. Any suggestions? Maybe something else too(If his foot does ok, I doubt this will keep us entertained for long)?

Thanks

Corteo is near Black Peak yes???. Do you have the Beckey guide for that area. If you are in the neighborhood, and haven't done it, Black Peak, NE Ridge is a great climb.

East Face is OK. Loose at the bottom and solid on the upper half. The lower portion is actually on the SE Ridge. Rated Class 3, but it's really Class 4. It took me about 7 car to car solo.

Did it twice, yrs ago. An easy day trip. Hike upwards to the L after Horse Fly Pass to the indistinct rib to the L of the E face, scramble up that rib until forced to the R out onto the face; sandy ledges lead up to the notch. Have a rope handy for the one exposed move up to the summit, if there are those present who are uncomfortable with that bit of exposure. Post-ascent, retire to the Methow for brews.

Corteo would be quite a different deal with snow on that E face...
