Crillz Posted July 5, 2007 Posted July 5, 2007 Is it worth getting the orthroscopic surgery? Anyone have any words of advice? The technical term is Orthroscopic Lateral Menisectomy - I scheduled this for next week thinking there's no solution other than surgery. Thanks for any stories or info. Quote
Doug Posted July 6, 2007 Posted July 6, 2007 I've had it done in both knees; to the best of my knowledge if the tear is severe enough and the meniscus will flop around, may as well get it done. I had my first one done in 92 (I was 32) and I healed reltively quick. The second one was in 97 and I was in much better shape. It healed very quick. I was hiking, climbing and running in 2 months. Crillz Posted July 6, 2007 Author Posted July 6, 2007 My doc is telling me a couple/few weeks for recovery. I'd prefer not to blow 2 months of good climbing weather, but it sounds like recovery varies - probably on how messed up the knee is in the first place. Thanks. Quote
