Lets DO THIS MUFFY! I've wanted to go to Nepal and Tibet since I was a wee laddy! My old man (veteran climber/wanker) always talked about the Himalaya, so its been building for a while now... Like as you said, I'm not sure I need to summit. Just to go and get the feel might be enough. I always wonder about summits though...... Just minus the whole death and tissue loss scinario and I'm probably there.

Lets go see this and this too! (although Anapurna would be the LAST peak I'd ever think about playing on...)

the himalayas are mountains in the outer world and giants in the inner world.......

bring your heart as yourself and behold the magic!........

Having been in Tibet I can tell you that the Chinese present an ugly occupying force. That was 17 years ago, and apparently not much has changed since then.

I'm sure the country of China has some cool people and nice places, but the video is not a good selling point.

I think cc.com should organize an attack on China!

sheesh- 8? instead of 17? youd think you'd been bonked on the head or something. either way, you have a first hand experience most of us don't.

i don't think you can judge all of china or the chinese people by the actions of the gov't in tibet. i've had the pleasure of working with several people from china. if they're at all representative of the people in culture in china, i look forward to visiting in the next year or two.

h/e i think i'll pass on a visit to tibet.

I've never been higher than than 14,490.....

Although I know a lot of suffering is sort of mandatory at super high altitude, I think the himalayas would be an amazing experience.

tibet has a vibe that is unparalled.less peacefull than nepal maybe but utterly powerful, deep and soulful. climbing there was a real blast!

altitude disappears when you acclimatise.....except above 24/26k, there it stays rough..

I don't know man, ever since I was seriously 5 years old, I've been obsessed about mountains. My dad and I would go to the library and rent all the climbing/himalayan National Geographic movies we could. Then do again, day after day after day....

So yeah, pictures of those mountains have been on the skin of my eyes ever since!

I'm hoping I can get the money together for a trip before I'm 30........

Your right the correct number is 18 actually. I knew I'd screwed up something, but I was in a hurry to leave the house.

In any case I'd agree that there are probably some great parts of China and some nice people, but the part I saw didn't leave me with a good impression of Chinese actions.
