mccallboater Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 Time to guess where this nice looking norwand is. Quote
drater Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 how big? I'm thinking Roothan. How bout some beta on those bolders up by Mt. Hall you mentioned? Quote
mccallboater Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 Nice guess. Wrong. Google earth indicates the face is about 600' to the snow patch. Clue: Connected with the topic of this thread. Quote
drater Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 North face of Myrtle Peak? I need to find this picture of a mountain in Boundary County on the cover of this real estate guide I have somewhere, see if you know what it is. Super impressive cliffs flanking this mountain, citadel looking. Quote
mccallboater Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 Nope. Next clue. The shot was taken from the top of the turtle. Quote
mccallboater Posted September 13, 2007 Posted September 13, 2007 Come on people. This is not that hard. Google Earth shows enough detail to pick out the line up the middle, if you want another clue. Quote
dan_forester Posted September 13, 2007 Posted September 13, 2007 I have no idea. How about this diminutive and whimsical formation: john frieh knows where it is I bet. Quote
spotly Posted September 13, 2007 Author Posted September 13, 2007 (edited) North Face of Harrison? I am bummed that the Pack River road is still out (late fall maybe; spring probably. The Bee Hive was calling...anyone got an ATV I can borrow - they say the temp bridge will take an ATV of motor cycle Edited September 13, 2007 by spotly Quote
John Frieh Posted September 13, 2007 Posted September 13, 2007 I have no idea. How about this diminutive and whimsical formation: john frieh knows where it is I bet. Looks like Utah to me. Yeah... Utah... the only good rock in Idaho is @ the city anyways Quote
dan_forester Posted September 13, 2007 Posted September 13, 2007 yes, it's true there's a real shortage of climbable rock in Idaho. I bet you've walked right underneath this particular formation, though. Quote
mccallboater Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 We have a winner! DIng DIng! N Face of Harrison! Now for my guess. The last picture is the saddle and SE ridge of Lions Head. Quote
dan_forester Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 which lion's head are you thinking of? (but that's not it...) Quote
spotly Posted September 14, 2007 Author Posted September 14, 2007 That would be the ridge North (left) as you head up to Lions Creek TH (to Devils Slide area)? Quote
dan_forester Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 no. you're hundreds of miles off. 1 point for the range, 2 points for the drainage it's near or the ridge it's on. 1000 points if you come up with a name (I'm betting it's nameless, but who knows). Quote
mccallboater Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 Ok. I'll bite. Sawtooths, near Finger of Fate (since that particular crag has notariaty with this group) OR somewhere around Ship island Lake. Quote
dan_forester Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 mccall boater has scored 1 point for identifying the correct range! not near the finger, or ship island lake. it is near a lake though! Quote
dan_forester Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 ~8500 ft. near the "longest technical rock climb in the Sawtooths" no more clues! It would be cool if someone knew if it was a named feature. Quote
drater Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 North Face of Harrison? I am bummed that the Pack River road is still out (late fall maybe; spring probably. The Bee Hive was calling...anyone got an ATV I can borrow - they say the temp bridge will take an ATV of motor cycle I was up there last weekend. Pretty big washout. The forest service ranger up there told me it was Priority #1 once they got some money for roads in the district. ATV/motorcycle/MTB no problem. Quote
catbirdseat Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 It's a new day when the Idaho Forum is as hot as it is now. Nice work boys! Quote
spotly Posted September 18, 2007 Author Posted September 18, 2007 Impossible in a 4X4? I hear the road coming in the other side is finally open but I'd rather avoid that 8+ miles round trip hike. Might see if there's a place that rents ATVs near there (doubtful). I'd bike it but doubt my injured shoulder-elbow-wrist-hand could handle the bumps very well. Quote
