rob Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 A snowmobiler is alive after being buried for 8 hours. He was found by probe. He passed out after 5 minutes. The next morning in the hospital, his wife said his temp was 90 degrees. I guess it's like they say, you're not dead until you're warm and dead. Lucky guy. Some distant cousin found him by probe hours after the sheriff's dept had apparently given up for the night. Dan Root, a distant cousin, said he reached the scene shortly before midnight and didn't expect to find Roberts alive. "I parked my sled, got my probe out and walked up the hill about 5 or 6 feet and hit" Roberts with the probe, Root said. "I probed him the first time." Quote
Kraken Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 another brilliant snowmachiner not wearing a beacon. Glad to hear he's alive though. Quote
dmuja Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 Wasnt there a guy (snowshoeing or skiing?) buried near Mt Baker last year or 2 for like 24 hours? I think he eventually dug himself out - my have been partially buried. I remember thinking Wow thats gotta be a record. Quote
catbirdseat Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 I think the helmet is why the guy survived as long as he did. He said he usually wore a beacon but didn't on this particular day. Bad timing, I guess. Quote
