WageSlave Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 So I'm on the hunt for a pair of soft shell pants for myself, but I'm 6'3" and the whole long leg thing is a pain in the ass. A large tends to be a 35" inseam which is just too short for me. Anyone know of company(s) that have pants that run long or just make them for tall folk? Quote
OlympicMtnBoy Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 Check out www.beyondfleece.com. They do custom stuff based on your measurments. What I've seen has been good stuff, and not really that much extra $$ for it. You can customize your options too (different pockets, etc). I haven't got anything from them yet but I've been meaning too. Does anyone know any other companies who make stuff for us long torso short leg folks (35x29 or so?)? Quote
dbconlin Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 Patagonia Guide pants seem to run a little long, but maybe not that long. Mammut pants are available in a zillion sizes. Other than that, maybe beyondfleece would be the ticket. Quote
colt45 Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 Arc Teryx pants come in tall sizes. link Quote
salbrecher Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 (edited) I'm 6'7" and have a 33" waist. I feel your pain. I found a pair of old northface softshells in a consignment store that sort of fit, maybe they still make em. Otherwise sew fabric on the bottom of a pair of mediums or get the larger pair tailored. Lankyness has it's drawbacks, garrrr. Why do companys think that tall people are always fat? I've never seen these 6'6" 400LBS people that actually fit into those XXL or XL outdoor athletic wear clothes... Edited January 26, 2007 by salbrecher Quote
WageSlave Posted January 26, 2007 Author Posted January 26, 2007 Man, I hear you on that. At least Arc'Terxy jackets fit my long arms without making me look like an inflated whale. Quote
PLC Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 I second the recommendation to look at Mammut. I'm not that tall (6'), but I'm really skinny (155lbs), and I've never found a pair of medium or large pants that fit me (the medium is too short, the large is too fat). Â With Mammut, you can get any combination of waist and inseem you'd like. Quote
scottgg Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 I'm pretty tall, and the Sierra Designs Black Ice Pants in size large are perfect for me. $90 on backcountry gear I think. Quote
rbw1966 Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 I am 6'3" and the cloudveil pants feet me fine. Quote
bearman14 Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 I second the Cloudveil recommendation. I'm 6'3", and the Symmetry pants size large fit like a dream, even a bit longish. Quote
Mountainstyle Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 Check out Outdoor Research, I am a 6 ft woman and I can find pants long enough for me. I need at least a 36 inch inseam... maybe the men's items would work for you. Quote
salbrecher Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 6'7" 33"waist 185lbs. today i tried the cloudveil symmetry pants size L and they actually fit! now if only i could afford them... Quote
chris Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 If you call Mammut USA with your inseam and waist and which pant(s) you're considering, they'll tell you precisely what size you need. They do seem to have more combinations than typical American manufacturers. Quote
