I don't think that priest read much of the Bible. Jesus was given the power to *forgive* sins, not punish them. I can't think of any example in the Bible of Jesus punishing sin. This, btw, is one of the things that really pissed off the religious estalishment...they believed only God had the power to forgive sins, so when Jesus went around forgiving sins, it was an in-their-face claim to deity. Which is essentially what got him crucified. But, atrocities done in the nme of a warped and twisted Bible interpretation is nothing new. So I'm not surprised. Quote
