specialed Posted June 1, 2001 Posted June 1, 2001 How crowded is Leavenworh going to be this weakend since the weather's supposed to be shitty over here!? Quote
mikeadam Posted June 1, 2001 Posted June 1, 2001 It's going to be REALLY crowded. You should stay home. Mike Quote
specialed Posted June 1, 2001 Author Posted June 1, 2001 Nah, I'm going to atleast make it to the bar. Quote
Ade Posted June 1, 2001 Posted June 1, 2001 Yeah. I'm staying at home too. I need to hone my predicting the future skills so I can help others plan their climbing weekends. When I'm done with my forecast of what routes will be free at Leavenworth at 3pm Saturday I'm going to work on the condition of the bergshrund on the Liberty Ridge fpr 7am Sunday. Quote
specialed Posted June 1, 2001 Author Posted June 1, 2001 Ooh wow! What's the cornice lookin like up at Jem Lake Coulior on South Trapper - for Tuesday of next week, say 10 a.m. I don't want to hike all the way up there just to be dissapointed. Quote
philfort Posted June 1, 2001 Posted June 1, 2001 hmmm - reminds me of something I was thinking about a while ago - getting payed for providing recent beta! Kind of like some people have posted here wanting to pay someone to hump their gear up to Camp Muir. Some rich guy could pay someone to go check out , say, how consolidated the snow is leading up to Liberty Bell Beckey route, will they need snowshoes tomorrow, and how much snow is left on the route? Checking the condition of hte Lib Ridge bergschrund would obviously be more expensive, though for a lower rate, you could just hike up to lower Curtis Ridge and take some telephoto shots of the bergscrhund to give to your 'employer'. Probably not a huge market for this though :-) Quote
AlpineK Posted June 1, 2001 Posted June 1, 2001 Most skilled labor goes for about $60.00/hr these days. Don't forget to charge one way drive time. You will probably want insurance for bad advice, and if you hire someone over the table you need to be a registered contractor. Quote
mikeadam Posted June 1, 2001 Posted June 1, 2001 I'm not sure that walking up some trail/snow to look at a hole in the ground is exactly "skilled labor". And if you need someone to do that for you why not just hire someone called "A GUIDE". Quote
AlpineK Posted June 2, 2001 Posted June 2, 2001 Sure walking ain't skilled, but interpreting what you find is. Have you ever heard of a joke Mike or are you hyper-sensitive about people scabbing on the highly skilled occupation of guiding. Quote
mikeadam Posted June 2, 2001 Posted June 2, 2001 Kurt! Have you ever heard of me speaking anything truly serious on this site??? My friends you met while doing the Forbidden Traverse said you were a nice fella. Make me a believer buddy Quote
