thelawgoddess Posted November 7, 2002 Posted November 7, 2002 anybody been up there lately? i've been feeling the need for a very long oxygen-deprived walk. then again, might be more fun to wait until it's nice enough for a ski down ... hmm. Quote
skykilo Posted November 7, 2002 Posted November 7, 2002 I was up there last Saturday. The south side route is a scree slog from hell. Anything that's frozen is huge suncups with water ice on top. Of course, that's changing as I type, but your guess is as good as mine as to how much snow is falling and at what elevation. Quote
skykilo Posted November 7, 2002 Posted November 7, 2002 A couple weeks of this weather and it could definitely be skiable, though. That would be worth it. Quote

Cpt.Caveman Posted November 8, 2002 Posted November 8, 2002 I think the prime time is to climb it in Oct or Nov if you are not skiing. It may be a scree slog during this time but it seemed to go quick then for me. A good weather window and less gear seemed to be what was on my mind. Oh yeah and easier driving and approach too. But with all the new snow falling now it might make it different. I guess it all depends on what one is looking for... Quote
skykilo Posted November 8, 2002 Posted November 8, 2002 There actually is a trail that makes it a little better all the way up to the false summit, but it is almost impossible to keep track of it. Quote
Cpt.Caveman Posted November 8, 2002 Posted November 8, 2002 Follow the masses that's the trail. Quote
Beck Posted November 8, 2002 Posted November 8, 2002 Hey, TLG, you should come down to Daniel this weekend with Fendall and myself. Not exactly a high altitude 02 brain starve (7980',) but long walk to some great early season sliding on Hyas Creek Glacier. Bring partner and ice tools if needing an ice fix by cruising over to Lynch Glacier. But I think the weathers going to be dropping freshies in a whiteout on us. Quote
Off_White Posted November 8, 2002 Posted November 8, 2002 Hear hear Beck, thats a sweet area with some great views (if you get them this weekend). Hope you have as much fun as you possibly can this weekend. TLG, you should join 'em if you can, should be relaxing compared to the Observation Rock Shootout. Quote
