G-spotter Posted June 4, 2006 Posted June 4, 2006 Star Chek is now reopened after the highway construction debris is cleared up. The old parking area is signed as "Emergency Muster Area, No Parking Within 200m". There is a new parking area south of the topout for the climb. The trail through Gotham City canyon has been rebuilt, it's really good. However it ends 50m from the start of the route and you have to kick steps across a sketchy talus slope, with raging river below, to get to the climb (as usual) The rap in is still doable but there is still a shitload of loose rock at the very top of the climb that you could dislodge when you pull your rap ropes for the first rap. Heads up! CASBC recommends that you approach via the trail instead of by the rap-in due to the loose rock up top. I think they need to build the last few meters of trail before they can recommend this, though. The very first bolt is missing a hanger (only 2 bolts on first pitch now but you can supplement it with thin gear). The very last bolt needs to be wrench tightened as the nut is very loose and spinny. Quote
